When I first arrived at St. Patrick’s five years ago, the point-person for church decorating was Sue Gerhard. She had been serving faithfully for a number of years and was making it known that she would be looking to step down. Darlene Brunetti then agreed to become the point-person, and she has been serving impressively for the past four years. But with her daughters grown and now living out of state, she needs the flexibility to travel for the holidays, rather than be tied down with monitoring poinsettias and fussing with decorations. Therefore, I feel it would work best to have Laurie Plichta overseeing these responsibilities. She has experience in these areas, and she also has expressed a strong desire to fulfill this role. She foresees a kind of team-approach, and she is extending an invitation to anyone within the parish who would like to be involved with fostering and enriching our liturgical environment. This means care of the plants, the baptismal finger fonts, altar drapings, and other aspects of decoration. Those making up this team would meet seasonally with Laurie for the sake of strategic planning, prayer, and reflection. If you have an interest or if you have questions, Laurie can be reached at 231-342-0206. The initial meeting for this group will be Saturday, October 7th, 1pm. So please give this some thought and consideration. If we can draw solid numbers, many hands will make for lighter work.
Additionally, we need to thank Ross and Carol LaCross for coordinating the “Must-Go Sale.”This was an idea originally generated by Mike York. With his sudden passing, the sale was placed into a kind of limbo. But Ross and Carol offered to follow through with the idea, and for this we are truly grateful. As a parish we go on to make a small profit, and more importantly, we free up some badly needed storage space. Autumn blessings to the LaCross’s and also to the wider parish.
